Raul is a software engineer, holding a master's degree in information science. He currently works within the software projects department of a major international organization in Geneva. His post, which he has held for the past several years, relates to development of Web-related services. Born in Lima and of double Peruvian/Swiss nationality, Raul completed most of his studies in France and Switzerland. He is active in various fields relating to the Internet and a member of many Swiss and international associations relating to computer science as ISOC (Internet Society), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and Schweizer Informatik Gesellschaft (Société Suisse d'Informatique). He is also president of an NGO involved in aid to the Third World and vice president of Vlib, the oldest catalogue of the Web.

Pioneer of the Web, the first Raul Sanchez web page was published in the Engineering School of Geneva (1993) and accessed by the first navigator graphic Web of the University of Illinois. Mosaic keeps the attention since it turns under Windows and simplify the navigation considerably. (Based on the principles of Canvas as they have been formulated by the team of the CERN of Tim Berners-Lee)

I give an special place in my life to the sports. I practice for years the surf. I specially like the waves in South America, Chicama, Cabo Blanco in Peru, Costa Rica Pacific coast, South Africa, Mundaka in Spain and sometimes (2 times) Belharra in France.

I ran in some marathons  and I enjoy running half marathons, 20 km. 10 km. and many others long races.

I have also snowboarded in Switzerland and France. I skateboard (longboard) in Geneva or anywhere I can.

See more

The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and Advocates for Animals are urging restaurateurs, chefs and consumers to keep foie gras off the menu once and for all, describing it as one of the cruellest forms of food produced in the world today. (www.wspa-international.org)
